. . . can stop a dedicated blogger from posting. . .

however,

a hurricane and its aftermath certainly can.

Hurricane Irene put our neighborhood out of order. We were more fortunate than our neighbors across the street, whose home was chopped in two and whose automobiles were both flattened by falling oak trees. However, we were without power for seven days, without telephone service for 20 days (thanks, Century Link, who insisted they’d fixed our lines when we knew they had not) and are still dealing with tree debris and removal a month and a half later.

Just for the record — I’m going to post hurricane photographs here after I get Mike’s Fly-for-Tots photos up and running.

For now, here are the photos Mike took at the Fly-for-Tots event which managed to raise more than $22,000. for Victory Junction. The weather was more like a November day than a mid-September one, keeping me at home. Still, enough die-hard radio control airplane fans showed up for a successful event, despite meteorological odds. Mike’s photos: Fly-for-Tots, 2011. I have no idea why the resolution turns out the way it does. More learning to do, or another camera to buy. I think Mike shot these on a little hand-held digital camera he’s had for awhile. I’m thankful he took lots of shots for the website.
